Microphone

A computer needs a microphone. How else am I going to talk in voice chat or use Internet long distance to call people?

Not just that, but this was a quick and easy way to add a little chrome to the creation. When I think of old microphones, I immediately think back to my childhood hanging with my dad. He's a HAM radio hobbyist and he had this great microphone that was something right out of a Flash Gordon control room. It was a lot of fun to play with as a kid with too much imagination, which makes it semtimental for me. This was the ONLY microphone I wanted for my computer. Dad is still using his, so I got one just like it on eBay.

But I had to make it work. The end of the plug is some weird 5-pin round connector for a radio set. It's got nothing to do with a modern sound card on a computer. Setting myself up for trouble again...

There are only two choices here. 1. Cut the plug off and splice on the plug that I need (ruins the antique value of the mic but it solves the functionality problem) or 2. Find, make or otherwise procure an adapter that will do the job.

I consulted my dad on this and his advice was...

He can make an adapter for it. Yay Dad! Isn't he great? :)
