Bookshelf Classics Chess

1970 3M Company

In the 1960's and early 1970's, 3M came out with a series of games that were boxed to look like books so they could occupy a shelf together. I think this is a fantastic idea, but so far Chess is the only one I have. Most of the ones I've seen on various web sites don't interest me much but a few of them sound very interesting to play. If I stumble onto them easily I might start collecting them.

The slip cover looks like a book and inside is a box containing a wood chess set and a fold-out board, which I think is laminated particle board because mine has the lamination coming up slightly at the corners.
