Eating Ramen Noodles

On this sad day of January 6, 2007

It seems that I always find the cool and strange things while I'm looking for something else. Serendipity, I suppose. Tonight I was looking for art by a particular graphic designer just to see if he'd done anything new lately and Google came up with a posting he made to a Ramen Noodle Recipe page. Hmm. Of course, I looked and some of the postings sound pretty good.
There, I learned the sad news that on the very day of my visit to this page, "Momofuku Ando, the inventor of instant ramen noodles, has died at age 96."
I have to stop here and say that I really can cook. I've been told I'm good at it. Ramen isn't a staple in my diet and even in college I ate better than that. I like them occasionally; they're cheap and fast and not half bad. At least I eat them with chop sticks. I don't mean to defame Ramen; I'm just saying that the Ramen page isn't one of my frequent browses. Foodtv.com is more my style.
I probably would have posted a link somewhere only on the merit of the creative recipes I found but I don't get to write a memorial very often. So let's all take a moment of silence in honor of Momofuku.
Alrighty, here's the Official Ramen Homepage.
The story about Mr. Ando's death, if you would like to know more.
Mr. Ando lived to see his noodles go into space aboard the space shuttle Discovery. I'm sure I won't get to see my blogs read by anyone in space, so that's pretty cool.
Even if you don't try any of the recipes they're still fun to read. Go on, you know you're curious.
